Thanks for coming out to Great Lakes Brewery everybody, it was another great event, even though our venue was slightly changed due to a closure of Great Lakes Brewpub’s basement. We’re already starting to plan the July Startup Drinks - July 31st @ The Harp is our tentative plans - please comment on this post if you have any other suggestions.
Startup Drinks will continue to be a Monthly event for everybody to come and socialize over a beer; everybody is welcome, startup or not, tech head or not. If you’re in Business Development, Sales, Legal or Accounting - come on out - there’s plenty of drinks to go around. We’re also working on a slight format change for a Quarterly Event that will be more focused on education and founder level experience; an announcement will be forthcoming about our first Quarterly Event that will have a speaker that you won’t want to miss.
See you all at a future event,

Hey everybody - we’re ready for the 2nd edition of Startup Drinks Cleveland (June 19th). This time, we’ll meet at Cleveland’s own Great Lakes Brewery in the Beer Cellar of Brewpub. 7pm meetup again, I will be going early to secure some tables and grab some food - if anybody wants to join me early on, shoot me a text message (216-394-3336) or an email. Otherwise, I’ll see everybody there!

I’m a few days late posting this as I was away for the weekend, but am now back in Cleveland and ready to move forward with the next steps from Startup Drinks. The event, in my opinion, was a huge success. I was suprised by the RSVP Count (24) but was impressed when even more people showed up - I didn’t take an exact count, but I don’t think I would be stretching it to say nearly 30 people showed.
I got to hear more about what’s going on at Mahalo from Chris Miller, a local lead developper for the LA Startup. Had some excellent Ruby conversations with Joe Fiorini, Corey Haines, Scott Himmel and Darren Powell. Before the event started, I had dinner with a few freelancers and other tech heads working for large corporations at Phnom Penh and was surprised to hear about all of the other groups around Cleveland that were starting up as well.
Now that the first Startup Drinks is behind us, it’s time to look to the future. The need to continue these events is there, but I think the format could stand for a little more structure to aid in some of the discussions. I am starting to plan the next Startup Drinks and will post more about that soon, and I hope to see some of the Startup Drinkers at the Columbus Startup Weekend in July.

We’ll be at the Bier Markt in the back near the pool tables. A few tables should be reserved for us - but no promises that there will be enough seating - we’re now at over 25 confirmed guests!
See you there!

We’re in double digits now for respondents that will be joining us at The Bier Markt on May 15th for the first Cleveland Startup Drinks. There is still 2 weeks to register for the event which I’m hoping to turn into a regular meetup (or drinkup as it should be caled). Thanks to everybody for spreading the word.
I look forward to seeing everybody at the bar, I’ll be sending out more information about where we will be seated/standing when the date is getting closer. For now, keep spreading the word, and hopefully I’ll see some of you around town at other events.
